As the Canadian Dollar continues its backslide away from parity with its U.S. counterpart, THE COMICSHOP has unfortunately had to readjust its exchange rate on the cover price of new comics and graphic novels to reflect the growing rift between currencies. This readjustment will be added to the cover price of new comics at the point of purchase, while graphic novels will have the new exchange rate applied directly to our labelled sticker price.
For further information on THE COMICSHOP'S new exchange rate policy, feel free to ask any of our helpful COMICSHOP staff members!
Your understanding in this unfortunate turn of economic events, as well as your continued loyalty to THE COMICSHOP, is greatly appreciated!
‘SHOPPER SHORTS
Due to a recent theft of both of THE COMICSHOP's laptops, all of our computerized subscription service information has been lost as well. Fortunately, Keith had the keen foresight to save all of the sub-service pull sheets from the last year or so. These, combined with every customer's own special order sheets, leaves us in pretty decent shape as far as knowing what titles our customers want pulled each week. Still, in order to have a more accurate record of every customer's needs when this data is eventually re-entered, we're asking everyone out there to please supply us with their most detailed want lists possible. After all, as hard as we try to anticipate and fulfill every customer's special requests, no one knows what these requests are (presumably) better than you!
And while we're on the delicate subject of our subscription service... While THE COMICSHOP understands that the current economic climate has been tough on businesses and their customers alike, we feel it necessary to implore those customers with excessive amounts of special orders on hold to PLEASE try and make more of an effort to clear up their accounts with us. We can think of no other businesses out there willing to tie up their cash flow for literally MONTHS at a time because their customers aren't picking up merchandise they specifically asked for. A conservative estimate suggests we're currently sitting on tens of thousands of dollars of unpaid for special orders! We do realize that the majority of our loyal customers reading this plea aren't really part of the problem (“preaching to the converted”, as it were), but we feel it is imperative to get this message out. The bottom line is, you want your comics and THE COMICSHOP wants to continue getting them for you! Thank you from everyone here at THE COMICSHOP!
Vancouver's Best Comic Book Shop for the second year in a row, as chosen by The Georgia Straight's latest "Best of Vancouver" annual edition ! : A great big "Thank You" to all of The Comicshop customers out there who voted us as the Number One Comic Book Shop in
this year's "Best of Vancouver" issue of The Georgia
Straight! Taking nothing away from our
distinguished competition, we like to think of this as a ringing endorsement
that "location, location, location" aren't the only prerequisites
taken into consideration when choosing a favourite
retailer, and that service, selection, product knowledge and a personable,
inclusive atmosphere still count for something in this age of monster chainstores and online, anti-"brick-&-mortar"
websites! (Sorry about that, but it's been about a year since my last rant and
I just needed to release some of the pressure!)
